Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) interactions in Poultry
The amino acids valine, isoleucine and leucine are sharing structural similarities and are therefore grouped to the branched-chain amino acids (BCAA´s). Because all BCAA´s get degraded by the same enzyme system, interactions may occur between these three amino acids. In particular an oversupply of one of the BCAA´s affects the availability of the others and the imbalance consequently lead to poor performance. A proper balancing of the BCAA´s make it possible to release the full potential of modern broilers.
