Africa Fernandez brings more than 24 years of poultry veterinary and technical experience across Europe and other international markets. She has strong expertise in bird health, biosecurity, vaccination, disease monitoring, technical audits, animal welfare and customer support.
Most recently, she worked as a Poultry Adviser with Vetworks in Belgium, providing technical and veterinary support to customers in multiple countries. Prior to that, Africa spent over two decades with Aviagen in a series of senior veterinary and technical roles, including Senior Technical Operations Manager for Aviagen Anadolu in Turkey and Company Veterinarian for Aviagen Ltd.
Her responsibilities included disease investigation, laboratory-based monitoring, export certification, welfare and biosecurity auditing, and technical support for customers across the UK, Ireland, Europe, Turkey, India and Japan.
Her key achievements include helping reduce antibiotic use through improved bird management, vaccination, biosecurity and tailored health plans, as well as strengthening control of major poultry pathogens including Salmonella and Mycoplasma.
Africa Fernandez holds a degree in Veterinary Science from the University of Santiago de Compostela, a Master's in Veterinary Science from the University of León, and additional postgraduate veterinary studies.
