Histidine in modern broiler diets, requirements and its functional roles
Histidine (His) is one of the next limiting amino acids in modern broilers nutrition. Beyond serving a building block for muscle protein synthesis, His is a component of hemoglobin, serine proteases, histidine containing dipeptides as well as a precursor of Histamine. The Requirements of modern broilers for His have not been extensively researched; the current guidelines indicate a SID His to Lys ratio of about 0.38. New research indicates higher values for boilers especially when they are exposed to an immune challenge. This presentation will discuss some of the latest His research and update the His recommendation for modern broiler genetics.
