Optimising Laying Hens Performance with Probiotics
Spore-forming probiotics efficacy in the host animal depends on their ability to germinate and undergo outgrowth into metabolically active vegetative cells within the gastrointestinal tract. By optimising the speed and outgrowth, spore-forming probiotics can deliver earlier and more reliable benefits in animal production. Spore forming probiotic (Bacillus velezensis CECT 5940) had been tested in laying hens improving performance (egg production, egg weight, egg mass and FCR) and egg quality (shell weight, yolk weight, albumen weight and haugh unit) throughout the life cycle. Evonik probiotic, Ecobiol, is one of the few probiotics approved in poultry for laying registered in EFSA.
