Abstract

When zinc oxide’ physico-chemical properties make the difference in the broiler industry

The supply of trace elements through raw materials is not always enough to fulfill animal requirements. Therefore, some essential compounds such as zinc, copper and manganese are added to the diet. Taking into account the physical and chemical characteristics of the different sources is crucial to predict bioavailability and thus their efficacy. Understanding these characteristics allows more precise application, reduces the risk of unnecessary over-supplementation and contributes to the economic performance of the broiler industry.
